The SA tranny does nothing have to do with the top speed. With the 5 cylinder swap to 136 hp I get the 105 mph with the old 2.0L aircooled tranny. Check http://www.relitech.com/helmut/GEARBOX.HTM for the German/US and the SA gearings. The inputshaft of the SA tranny is like the standard Vanagon, but the drive/CV flanges are of that make you will find at the Syncros. As the SA trannies are not that expensive (DM 2400.- at Winkler, Germany) you may choose to swap the whole drivetraing including the inner CVs. Helmut '80 Vanagaudi |
