>How bout "Self Destructing German Auto"? >Sorry, this is not a poke at any company, more at boosting a WB.
Actually a number of people were boosting 1.9's a few years back as the engine is readily set up to do so layout wise and as the CR and tough bottom end easily support reasonable boost. I think most results were quite favorable. I don't think anyone ever went into serious production of a kit or whatnot as the market is of course severely limited. I've always had a hankering to try to roll my own system in fact using a small KKK turbo from a diesel for a minor amount of boost. Now the other thing that kills the market is that 2.1's are of course right out with their ludicrous CR but I had a unique idea there as well to solve a couple of problems involving machining a surface for a proper copper crush style head gasket/spacer for the outside but such kits would likely have to be set up and machined 1 by 1 with the poor tolerances inherent in the WB engine set up.
