I think it's because those out west are just a bit more hip than us East coasters. Plus, most of the auto industry manufactures all the american "quality built" vehicles in the East. Most people would never dream of driving a "european" car. They just finally started accepting the Asian cars, because most of them are built out here too. Today I drove thru a classic car "cruse in" in a parking lot with about 200 restored cars. Boy did I get some looks, and comments :)
