Subject: Syncro 3 groove pulley part #
Comments: To: vanagon@vanagon.com

Hello- Today I got my 3 groove pulley off (ended up buying an impact wrench to do it - what a nice toy). Underneath I found an elring seal (the same size and type as the new one in my engine gasket kit). Since there was supposed to be a horribly expensive seal under there, I am wondering if the two are interchangable. I was told by one shop that the Syncro 3 groove pulley has a different backing than the non syncro pulley (and thus is a different pulley). If anyone has a parts fiche for an 87 syncro, can you catch if the correct pulley is: 025-105-257 (with an EGA stamped after it? not sure if that was part of the # or not).

Since it is approaching that dark tea time of the soul, and thus some of you might be want something to do, you could catch that number against the pulley on your syncro and tell me if it matches ;)

TIA

dave
