Something else to think about... after a few years of sticking around this list, there won't be a thing about your Vanagon that you don't understand or can fix! People often ask me why I stick with VW's. After thinking about it, I realized that they aren't that much more reliable than most other cars, its just that I now know enough about them that I haven't ever been to a dealership for anything but parts. Besides, I can blow it two or three times and still fix it cheaper than someone that dosen't have any personal interest in my vehicle. Now that I have confidence with my repairs, I am no longer concerned with being at the mercy of others on trips. Controlling your own destiny and all that.... Mark
