Subject: Vangon brake cylinder quality differences?
Comments: To: Vanagon@VANAGON.COM

I have been shopping around for brake rebuild stuff and found a wide range in brake cylinder (that's rear drum brakes) cost. Ron at bus depot said 8.95. Europarts sold two : a German made for $24 something and a Brazilian made for $13. What's up here? Will me and my syncro notice a quality problem? Also I have 108K on a completely original brake system with pad left up front. I was considering new rear drums as well. Is this worth it or are the drums generally thick and long lasting? (Not wanting to tear it apart to measure the tolerances) Nat Sometimes Sunny Seattle 91 syncro westy
