Subject: Westy fridge on propane

Encouraged by many listees who reported much colder temps in their Dometic fidges when using propane than mine (50F) I decided to tackle a pull-it-out and clean-it-out project.

Using the Bentley and Dometic manuals as guides I was amazed how easy it actually was. Four hours later (I work slowly) it had all been removed, cleaned out and replaced in my '85 Westy.

The only obvious problem was hair in the fan that was easily removed after pulling the fan blade off its shaft (It's lots quieter now).

I took everthing apart that I reasonably could and blasted it all with compressed air. The burner and jet didn't look too bad, but I cleaned them up real good anyways.

This story doesn't have a happy ending. The fridge doesn't cool any better :( still 50F on maximum setting. While doing all this I did notice that the two stage regulator off the tank has a slight leak. Could that be part of the problem?

Any help would be appreciated. Also, has anyone found a good source for the two stage regulator? I will probably end up removing the whole tank, cleaning and painting it.

TIA
