Leo, On my 85 Westy, the fuel filter is visable from under the van. There is only about 20 inches of fuel line between the gas tank and the fuel pump, and then about 8 more inches to the fuel filter. There is no cover on either the pump or the filter. If you turn on the ignition switch, you should be able to hear the fuel pump and that may hep you find it and the filter.
