One other note. All the work was done by my mechanic (Indian Peaks Auto, Boulder CO), and NOT by the local VW dealer. The part #'s that I listed are most likely a mix between VW numbers and WorldPac numbers. I am not really sure. When I asked for an estimate to have the conversion done at the dealer, they quoted me $1800 since I absolutely _had_ to change compressors. They actually laughed at me when they told me how much it was going to cost!
