Mark--

This "total hose replacement" is on tap for this month on our Jetta TD, about $200. I would also mention here my idea of preventive maintenance "clumping". That is, replacing all suspect parts in a given area to save on garage time. When we have the hoses replaced, I am also having the water pump and housing replaced, and the heater core and radiator flushed. "clump". (My coolent tank was replaced last year when I showed some small cracks).

Next month, I am having the tranny replaced (buggered differential bearings). At the same time I will have the clutch, pressure plate, etc, replaced; shift linkage rebuilt; and new mounts for the motor and tranny. All are due, all will be "clumped" at once. Saves $$$ and time back at the garage when they can combine labor.

best of luck,
