The 10-30 is too light for the Vanagon engine. Also, 800 rpm is a tad too low. They normally idle about 950. Change to 20-50 and the oil light problem should go away. Also, if you are using the royal purple, you do not need the prolong. They both use the same trick chemistry for the wear test they show in their advertisements.
