<< The other thing that I have been thinking about is that I would love to get my email during this trip. Anyone have a low cost answer to this problem (besides checking emails in Circuit City and hoping not to get busted!). I was wondering about maybe one of those PDAs or something similar that just recieves emails and does phone numbers, nothing fancy. Any input on this subject would be helpful. >> Hi Ken, I've been thinking about this as topic as well and have come up with an option you may like. IBM (www.ibm.com) sells refurbished Thinkpads for next to nothing. A coworker of mine got one (486SL33, 12Mb, 340 hd, Mono) for 295 bucks! He got a 25 dollar 14.4 PMCIA modem, installed Win95.....and there ya go. If you do a search in YAHOO for "refurbished laptops" you get a nice bunch of sites to try out. Then the only thing you'll need is the 1-800 number for your service or a local access number. I know you don't want to spend the dough for a cellular modem setup...prohibitively expensive. I'm planning on getting one of these for my great trek to Alaska in July. I just can't go that long (15 days) without my email and the list. Good luck.
