Steve, I couldn't agree with you more.

There is nothing like the personal failure I feel when I failed to pick up the signals letting me know something is going wrong. I haven't broken down on the road in years. I've had a few problems that I was able to take care of but these were really not anything I feel could have been anticipated.

I also came from a motocross/desert racing background in my early years.

Later I was in charge of aerial tram maintenance for a ski area. If anything went wrong with it the negative publicity alone would cost a fortune let alone the human risk when carloads of people are suspended 300 ft. above ground.

You are doing the right things. You won't have to worry about breakdowns. You won't have little subconscience stresses eating at you. Peace of mind in our cases is worth a piece of our incomes. (A Luxury some Would Say).

Go to it!
