Subject: Starter Relay and transmission
Comments: To: Vanagon <vanagon@vanagon.com>

1) I am going to fix my starter relay problem over the weekend. What kind of relay am I looking for? Are there different types?

It looks like I keep burning the Hellas I am now using. The second this month. It has gotten to the point where I had to run two cables from the relay to a switch up front to start the van. Not very secure but it works and it gets me back and forth on my 100 mile daily commute.

Also what kind of electrical wire is best to replace the ones already in place.

2) What does it mean when the transmission (auto) starts to shift late? I know that's not good but what can be done to fix it? Eventually, the transmission will shift properly.

Thanks, Nate El Great 85GL 183K miles.
