I will try and answer both of your posts. First of all only white grease goes on the shifter ball, the master cylinder suporters both the brakes and clutch slave cylinder. This shifter ball may be cracked or just dirty. It is a two part ball. You may have to replace it. The glove box drops down on two rubber lines. I had to replace them due to excess pressure on the rubber lines. You could replace them with a strong cord.
