Hi all,

I just had my A/C converted to R134 yesterday and I thought that I would share the cost breakdown with you all. Parts used were:

Qty. Part # Description Price Ea. Total Price

1 175272679 A/C Expansion Valve $27.00 $27.00 1 253260633A A/C Reciever Drier $63.12 $63.12 10 HNBR O-Rings A/C O-Rings, R134 type $1.87 $18.67 3.8 R134 R134A $10.86 $41.27 1 FJC 2538 A/C Retrofit Kit $30.77 $30.77 2 BG Leak Oil A/C Leak Detector Oil $2.49 $4.99

TOTAL PARTS $185.82

Total labor was 5 hrs @ $49/hr. $245 total. With shop fee and tax the total came to $458.47. Or roughly $200 more than it would have cost me to re-charge the system with R-12. The A/C is blowing cold for me, but it is only 50 degrees out right now, not that I have anything to compare it against as I have never had a Vanagon with working A/C. Glad I went with the conversion.
