I put Boston 4" speakers in my front doors, although they are the same size as factory speakers the grill is not flat and the window crank (if you have manual windows) did not work. I was able to find some window crank extenders from RMMW at a swap meet, I tried getting more, but they are discontinued. The extenders were labeled for a 49-67 Beetle, but fit fine. I did have to tap a hole in the top for the screw, but that's all. If you have power windows there are no problems I can forsee, the plastic behind the panel is big enough for a 6 1/2". One thing I did hear somewhere is that MB Quart makes a flush mount speaker w/ grill, then you wouldn't need extenders.
