Hans-

I put 5.25" Jensen speakers in my front doors. All that was required was cutting the larger hole out of the door panel and shifting the vapor barrier over to accomadate as I moved the new speakers more towards the rear. There is plenty of space as far as the metal of the door is concerned for larger speakers. Mine were not flush mount. The only problem is that they barely touch the side of the dash so a bit of paint has worn off, but the covers aren't even dented. The sound was much improved.
