Supporting the trans really doesn't require a lot of engineering.  You can
do it either way, no big deal.  The trans doesn't weigh that much in the
first place, 200 for auto, under 100 for manual.  It is supported in the
front by a mount, so you don't even have that much weight.  A decent
thickness nylon cord will hold it up.

Just don't go too thin on the cord and try to tow it around.  I did this and
dragged my tranny down the road 50 fifty feet.  Didn't really hurt it, just
took some material off the outer edge of the bellhousing.
