I used to work installing Automated Guided Vehicle Systems. The pertinant aspect of that is that we ran miles of wire inbedded in concrete floors. When we needed to splice wire that would be buried in concrete we did pretty much as you suggested. The wire was crimp spliced with a bare crimp. Soldered the connection. Brushed with "Scotch-Kote" (the official liquid tape). Covered with heatshrink, and then coated with Scotch-Kote again. Very permanant. No failures once installed, even underwater. Mark
