With engine running and tranny in park/neutral, have the wife or someone sit in the pilot's seat and raise the rpm as you stand back aft and check the exhaust flow by feel against your hand and by sound. If you hear a high wispy sound instead of what you know to be normal, then that is an indicatore you're dealing with constipation.

But then you have to determin whether or not it is the Cat or the Muffler...
