I guess the warranties in MASS are not as good as those in CA, cause Optima gave me a new battery even though my posts were cut....people do this in lots of applications, according to the battery shop where I bought mine...they even have a special tool for doing this and melting the top of the post afterward. The idea of battery posts sticking out of the seat seems like more of a risk.
