Does anyone know where I can find a replacement temperature gauge for my 84 Vanagon? Mine appears to be malfunctioning because the built in red over heat light never stops blinking even though the temperature remains in the normal mid range. The blinking begins when the ignition is turned on and never stops. Under nornal conditions, the circuit which controls the red light seems to be activated by an increase of voltage across the temperature guage due to increased current in the circuit whenever( 1) the temp. sensor resistance goes down with increased temp. or (2) the low water sensor circuit applies a low resistance path to ground. In either case, the current would be increased through the temperature guage causing the guage to read hot. Since my guage never reads hot and the light blinks, I think the internal circuit is defective. |
