For those who watch their gas consumption and wish to compare their data, I include our trip log. On our trip in May '98 from Wilberforce, Ontario, Canada to Busses on the Blue Ridge in NC and back, a 3330 kms trip of mixed driving on freeways, through mountains and city traffic, we averaged 11.57 litre/100km or 20.08 miles/gal on premium gasoline. Everything in our Syncro Westfalia is stock with the exception of the add-on AFM wire harness purchased and installed on this trip in PA. Here are the details: Odometer US Liters kms miles Litre/ Miles/ gal 100km USgal 141987 11.88 44.98 339.0 210.6 13.27 17.73 141648 10.76 40.73 387.0 240.5 10.52 22.35 141261 12.42 47.01 420.0 261.0 11.19 21.01 140841 7.25 27.45 251.0 156.0 10.94 21.51 140590 8.26 31.28 251.0 156.0 12.46 18.87 140339 5.65 21.39 214.0 133.0 9.99 23.54 140125 8.73 33.03 330.0 205.1 10.01 23.50 139795 13.05 49.40 380.0 236.1 13.00 18.09 139375 8.47 32.07 271.0 168.4 11.83 19.87 139104 9.81 37.14 307.0 190.8 12.10 19.44 138797 10.62 40.18 365.0 226.8 11.01 21.36 138432 12.88 48.75 340.0 211.3 14.34 16.40 138092 11.13 42.11 380.0 236.1 11.08 21.22 137712 5.95 22.51 201.0 124.9 11.20 21.00 137511 3330 101.80 385.30 3290.0 2044.3 11.57 20.08 And for further comparison: Malcolm Stebbins wrote: > After 5 tanks of gas (with me as owner) I've averaged the following > for a 91 Syncro Westfalia running Webber two barrel progressive > Carbs, and premium pertrol: > Overall: 12.6 L/100 km = about 19 MPG > City: 13.5 L/100km = about 18 MPG > Highway: 11.1 L/100 = about 21 MPG > > This represents a little better than other Syncro Westys, in my > MPG survey a few months ago.
