Ron: I still feel bad that the shock thread ran astray with you and me getting into that fray. I was thinking that it would be nice to make something positive out of it. Several syncro owners p-mailed me inquiring about what rear shocks are available for syncros. Others p-mailed seconding my observation that the KYB's are not a great choice for the syncro due to their stiffness and the fact that you cannot put them up front. This leads to a suspension out of balance. I do not know what is available out there for the syncro. Some say that Bilstein makes no shock for the syncro. Others say they do, or that you can just use the regular vanagon shock. I know nothing about Konis. I do know that Projectzwo sells shocks for the syncro...as does their u.s. distributor, although I do not know what brand they are. I also know that in germany, vw sells three different shocks for the front/rear of syncros. It seems there might be a niche here for someone to fill. Suspension is important on an off-road vehicle...and some syncro owners will spare no expense in outfitting their vehicles. None of the vendors, however, seem to have made much effort to let people know what is available suspension wise for the syncro. Since Bus Depot seems able to get the best prices on many products, I thought that perhaps this would be something you may be interested in helping us poorly suspended syncro owners out with. Steve |
