Hi Carl; I have done both things i have replaced the coolant pipe with the factory one, expensive and it rusted again, I have brazed them, spliced in rad type hose and most recently i only kept the water pump end and made up the rest with 1 1/4" copper pipe fittings and a peice of hose. I will never buy the factory piece again
