Vanagoners: I just replaced my coolant using Mark Magee's method that he posted on 9.24.97 (titled as above.) It was so easy that I wonder if I'm missing something. Basically upper hose to plastic pressure tank is ported to reservior (I, too, used the PVC pipe) and new coolant is added through the top of the tank, the pressure cap having been removed. I first ran 5-10 gallons of filtered water through the system. The effluent, at the end, was only slightly blue tinged. I drove the van for a day, then repeated the operation with my 50/50 Autobahn/filtered water mix. The resultant coolant is probably less than 50% Autobahn, but I can fine tune that by adding pure stuff. This may not be the best method, but it sure is easy. One person operation. What's the downside? Philip 91 Vanagon Carat Mobile, AL |
