I've been fighting a mysterous 87 Synchro van A/C ailment that shuts down completely. Always precisely six minutes into operation. System pressures NORMAL. Pressure switches NORMAL.

Turns out the super hot special A/C fuse link was melting a nearby cable that should have been routed elsewhere! It took that long for the plastic to melt each time and for +12 volts to go to precisely the wrong place.

Some silicon rubber glop now holds the cable where it belongs.

Watch that special fuse link. It really gets hot. It also seems to corrode with time. While cheap, I know of no non-VW replacement.

All this hidden in the extreme left rear post.
