It is available in both a fog light and a driving light. I have the driving light version and I'm very happy with them. I got them for around $70 at a local Pep Boys store. They come with a switch, relay, and wiring harness.

What you may want to do, however, for improved looks, is to buy a stock VW fog light rocker switch. Look at your instrument panel. Below the hazard flasher switch is a space for a fog light switch. My van has this stock VW switch and it looks sharp there. Plus, no modifications are requred to make it fit. Additionally, with the VW fog light switch, there is a third position for addition of a rear fog light if you so desire. I have a rear fog light on my van. I don't use it often, but when I need it I'm glad it's there (makes your van more visible from the rear in heavy rain or fog).

You can see pics of my setup (Hella 500 driving lights and Bosch rectangular fog lights that were on the van when I bought it) at http://www.type2.com/bartnik/myvan.htm

Good luck, Sean Bartnik Johnson City, Tennessee '81 Vanagon L Westfalia
