When my clutch decided to begin its journey to heaven, it slipped most
noticibly in fourth when climbing or under heavy loads. Eventually it slipped
in all gears with any load.


Either Clymer or Haynes manuals suggest the best way to check for a slipping
clutch is to put it in second (gear) and accelerate off as you usually would:
no extra fuel, or "nursing " the clutch. It should die.


That exhausts my suggestions and alternatives. :)
