<< Alright, I'm tired of seeing the coolant light flashing. I have seen it do the following, ordered by most frequent:

1. It is dark (the way I like it) 2. It blinks slowly 3. It blinks quickly 4. It comes on and stays on for a minute or so 5. It glows dimly, but steady.

What is this thing trying to tell me???? The coolant level is fine, I haven't seen any noticable change in level in 4 months. No visible bubles in the overflow tank. No signs of oil or other foriegn matter in the coolant. The temperature guage NEVER rises more than 1/8" above the white cold zone on the left. From other posts i've seen, this sounds abnormally low? Even when the rad fan resistor pack was bad and the emergency cooling fan kicked in, the temp guage showed cold. It usually sits right at the top of the cold zone. Could both of these be due to a problem with the thermostat?

Thanks again, Vernon Craddock >> Hi Vernon, looks like you are going to need a new temp gauge. Most vanagons will eventually need one anyway. Bye, Michael Modl. 87 syncro.
