My 87 Westy cooling system had the following failures:

head gasket drip                  11 years         80,000 miles
corrected with bars leak
still running same gaskets
at 85,000 miles ;)

expansion tank cracked            10 years         76,000 miles
replaced

flange to 2nd cyl broken          11 years         83,000 miles
replaced
