Subject: Rear Hatch Lock Problem

Hans-

I haven't had the problem you're experiencing, but I just switched out a locking mechanism from one hatch to another. If it doesn't unlock at all in any key position, it sounds like the powerlock must have slid to the wrong place, though I have no explanation why. You'll need to take the panel off the hatch and take a look. What the mechanism does is pretty easy to see once you get in there. If the sliding mechanism is not all the way over, it will not unlock at all. I had this problem before hooking the motor to my lock, it would slide a bit off and keep the latch from working. You can pull it all the way over by hand easily enough to get the door working again. Hopefully someone else will be able to give you an idea for a permanent fix.
