Our 86 Syncro Westfalia was purchased in its 10th year, so here are the cooling system failures since then:

Plastic manifold cracked (replaced) 10 years ca. 90,000 kms.

Low level sensor cracked 10 1/2 years ca. 97,000 kms. (replaced)

Heater hose from manifold 10 1/2 years ca. 97,000 kms. (damaged by doof who replaced the manifold - hose replaced)

Right Head drip (stopped by some 11 years ca. 105,000 kms. magic leak stop stuff - ceramic I think)

replaced pipe to left of engine 11 years ca. 105000 kms. before it failed
