I'm still having a strange problem with a high idle when the A/C is on and the radiator cooling fan comes on. I have diligently searched the archives but haven't found a similar problem yet. I've been through Bentley and am aware of the various components involved with the A/C and the fan- the 2nd and 3rd stage relays, the resistor pack behind the headlight, etc. What I don't know is which of these things would have any connection to the idle. My main questions are 1) How often is the radiator fan supposed to be coming on when the A/C is on and for how long? What's the trigger, other than initially turning on the A/C 2) How does the idle system compensate for the A/C being on? What components are involved or connected between the two? 3) If the relays or the resistor might be connected to my problem, how can they be tested? Thanks in advance for any responses. We're driving to Deleware this weekend and if I find myself in need of parts I'll have to order them tomorrow. By the way, the van is an 89. Judging from the Bentley they changed the AC system somewhat that year. Mark Schrope '89 Wolfsburg
