I had my radiator cleaned last week (my mechanic removed it and took it to a radiator shop) and a new water pump installed. I think that my mechanic didn't get all the air out of the cooling system. It was 100F in Macon today, and even with the A/C on full, needle on temp gauge stayed at midpoint except when I was stopped at a traffic light or moving slowly such as in a parking lot. Then the temp gauge needle headed for the 3/4 mark. Is this normal for operation in very hot weather? When I turn off the engine, I can hear some bubbling in the radiator. I think this is from trapped air as there also is some air in the expansion tank when the van is cool. If I crack the pressure cap, antifreeze come out and the air seems to go other places. What is best way of getting last traces of air from the cooling system? John in Middle GA |
