I can't understand why anyone would just replace the gasket and not do the
head too since there is no extra labor involved.  Am I missing something
here?  I''m not trying to be real negative it just seems that the old head
is probably pitted and would leak again soon.

Okay the worst  has finallly happenned. We bought a 1985 Westie 2 months
ago. There were 82,000 miles and supposedly 4000 on a rebuild that included
the heads. This was done by a reputable shop and seems though rather
ambiguously described in the receipts.
Last week the righ one started to leak sligtly. We took it to our mechanic
(Toils Auto-NE Ohio) and he laid out the bad news. Now that I have whined,
I
am looking for advice. Since we are gtting at least the gaskets (don't even
think about the heads) done, is there anything that we should have done "as
long as you're in there"?
Is there any ting I might try to get a couple of months time to save the
money to have this done? Okay, I already I put in some Bars leak  . We love
this vehicle and want to do the right maintenance. I can't tell you how
emotional it is to have it damaged
