Hi All,

We just returned late Sunday from our vacationing in NW New Mexico and NE Arizona. It was a great trip, but I'll stick to the Vanagon content. We flew into Albuquerque and picked up 'Goldie', an 86 Vanagon Westy w/ 97k miles from "Roamin' Holidays" Vanagon Westphalia Camper Rentals. We had her for 6 days and logged about 1200 miles. It was our first experience with any Westphalia in terms of family camping (me, my wife, and our 5 yr old and 18 month old boys). As I guessed, my wife really liked it and now has a better disposition towards VWs and Vanagons, as long as we can get a Westy! 8-) Overall, I could tell it was more weight to carry compared to my passenger Vanagons, but it held its own in the desert cross winds and l-o-n-g grades. It liked the highways and back roads better than I-40 and was good on gas etc. Anyway, it was a great way to see the parts of the SW US that we haven't seen before and very accommodating for camping etc. -- instant shade!! 8-) -- Jon Christensen Check Out the Vintage VW Club of America: Vvwca@primenet.com http://www.concentric.net/~Vvwca
