EMPI, stands for Engineered Motor Parts Incorporated, and the company was known for selling aftermarket speed parts for Volkswagens. The company started in the 1950's, and sort of ended in the 1970's. (I say sort of for a reason. You can still buy EMPI labeled parts today, but they're a far cry from EMPI of old.)
