They >are very impressive this year. ********************************** Kinda Waterfalls Related: On Thursday between 12PM and 4PM they will (for the first time since 1983 - also an "El Nino" year) be allowing water over the center spillway (@ approx. 1200cfs) at Shasta Dam, just north of Redding. I've only seen it on film, but I hear it's spectacular when they do it. Water's just about a foot from the top of the dam right now. The reason for doing this is to clear a lot debris that has collected at the dam in the past few weeks. It's easier for them to let the debris spill over the dam and then collect it downstream just before Keswick Dam Only the spillway gates are keeping the water back right now. Powerhouse is working full-time. Lotsa water.

I'm gonna work my daily errands run to go by, see it and take some pictures too.
