I read this morning that VW/Porsche have inked a deal to build a new
off-roader based on the VW T4 commercial platform, with full time
four-wheel drive, due in 2002. Possible engine choices are VW's VR6, VR8
and Audi's 2.5L turbodiesel. Other possibilities are the W12 and a new
V10 turbodiesel. VW plans to build 80,000 mostly for export to the US.
