Calle; Cutting the springs would be my LAST resort. The first thing I would do is invest in the best tires you can afford. This worked miracles on my 71 bus. If lowered ride is what you are after go with low profiles. If still not satisfied improve your shock absorbers. Adjustable Konis are sweet but I doubt there is a Vanagon application. ;-) I understand there are larger diameter sway bars available for the Vanagon. Cutting the springs would be a engineering nightmare. First they are progressive springs so where do you cut them? Next could you get them to all come out the same length and with the same rates? Last it would screw up the geometry i.e. alignment terribly. If you must shorten your springs buy some ride height adjusters from JCWhipme. They are small clamps that pinch your coils together.
