I don't have my trans spec sheet in front of me but AFAIK thats the trans code for the diesel Vanagons.

VW used a strange mix of a 091 bellhousing, gear carrier housing, and nosecone with a 002 style main transaxle housing. The 002s had been out of production since the introduction of the 091s in 1976 and I guess VW had some NOS main housings they wanted to get rid of? Anyway, again AFAIR, your DZ cased trans should have a 5.86 ring and pinion set with a 1st through 4th ratios of: 3.78/2.06/1.26/.82. I'm sure that if my memory fails me there are others on the list with the info at hand to correct me.
