I just thought I would share a couple of potentially expensive problems I

have had with my 97 EVC over the past couple of months.

My EVC has 36,000 miles on it. Two months ago, the engine check light came on and it turns out on of the O2 sensors was bad. The total replacement cost was around $400. I think it was $225 for the sensor and the rest labor. I complained enough that VW paid half the cost and the dealer paid the other half.

Last week the Battery light came on and it turns out the alternator went bad. The estimated cost for this repair is $650. I think the alternator

was around $450, and the rest is labor. Luckily, the extended warrenty is covering this.

I don't know if its only my van or not, but I wouldn't expect either of these parts to fail in the first 100,000 miles. I just thought I would let people know.

enjoy,

Christopher Quijano
