If I buy the Stebro system, it will be the last one I would need to buy. I plan to keep my van for at least another 10 years. The lifetime of other aftermarket exhaust systems depends on the quality of the product which I suspect varies widely. In the Pacific Northwest where I live, exhaust systems rust like crazy. My current exhaust looks like a rusty hulk of metal that washed up on an ocean beach. Besides being very ugly (exhaust is very visible on syncros), it is so rusted that it will probably have to be cut off when I replace it. Stebro has a reputation for making very high-quality exhaust systems. Their Vanagon product _should_ be an improvement over the OEM exhaust system, but that is still TBD. MM |
