I'm a little new to this Vanagon stuff, so forgive my ignorance. I called The Parts Place in Michigan about a new water pump for my '84 and they quoted me 100 bucks! I knew these buses were expensive, but......!!!!??? Anyway, I found a new Italian-built (Graff or Graft? - brand name) from a guy in Savannah, Ga for only about $44. This is a considerable difference. What gives? Do I want to buy this thing? Also, in talking with one of the few VW guys in town (Fayetteville, NC) I was told that this isn't an easy repair to accomplish, since you've got to jack the front end way up over the rear, to prevent air pockets in the system once you're done. I just assumed you could unbolt one and replace it with the other. Is this true, and is there a way I can get it done over at my buddy's house this weekend? I'd appreciate any advice on either of these questions. |
