Subject: Trip report - Dometic fridge

Had a great kayak trip. Smoky took us up island and back, forty miles of it on logging roads over the shoulder of a mountain. Went sixty miles an hour with the kayak on the roof and had to keep checking the speedometer to avoid going over 60! 27 miles per imperial gallon. Amazing performance.

The kayak/boat loader I spent the last year making worked well. If anyone is interested I can mail you photos. My computer system is too old to handle photos on line although if the unlikely should occur and many people want details I can get a friend to put them up for me.

Only difficulty we had was with the fridge. For some reason it will not light easily if Smoky is tilted even slightly to the right. Tilts forward, backward, and to the left don't bother it. I would like to get information on the mechanical operation of this unit. I know the refridgeration cycle with gas-fired coolers but not how the burner system is supposed to work. Also, there is an indicator light that doesn't. Somewhere there has to be a thermocouple that either generates a current or closes a relay to turn this indicator on. How do I find out where it is?
