Hey Now!!

Hello and good tidings to all you kind vanagon volks!! I am most pleased (and
a little afraid) to now call myself one of you. After several years of looking
and waiting for just the right one to come along... I finally gave in & bought
a Westy.  Couldn't stand the thought of another Recycler, and the Furthur
Festival is upon us... So I took a deep breath and bought a brown & beige  84
Wolfsburg Westy. My VW mechanic gave it a general inspection before I bought
it, and on Monday he goes in deep, and comes up with...my fate. Yes, I'm
nervous. I know I'm gambling here. But it's a beautiful bus, interior's in
great shape, beds, kitchen, poptop look like they've barely been used. Runs
well (so far) except that it misfires a little sometimes... (uhoh)

Anyway... I haven't owned a vw since my first car, a LONG time ago, which was
a 71 bug.  So, I'm gonna need all the help and advise (and good humor) I can
get. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Also, I have the John Muir VW book
(as I thought I was going to get an aircooled camper, but NOOOOO!), and he
suggests the How to Keep Your VW Rabbit Alive for watercooled vanagons, but I
can't find it anywhere. Wrote to Muir Pubs. but haven't heard from them
either. Does this book exist? Should I just get the Bentley manual?? Am I just
in big trouble all the way around??
Someone please tell me I haven't made a huge mistake. (Well, I guess I could
always just use it as a guesthouse...)
