Subject: Oil pressure switch confusion, '86 Caravelle

Hi all!

Today I checked the colour of the "high" oil pressure switch. It looks white to me, and that indicates a 1.8 bar switch, right? My (german) repair manual says .9 bar in the text on the oil pressure monitoring system, but in the wiring diagram it says 1.8 bar. The consensus on the list is .9 bar, which would be a gray-coloured one, right? So, should I be happy, because all of those alarms that have driven my blood pressure high were all false, or is there a big BUT somewhere? Could it be that my 2.1 litre 112 hp Digijet non-Cat engine needs the 1.8 bar switch, or that (wild hypothesis) the pre '87 switches were white and .9 bar, etc. etc. Ken Wilfy, I think you've been there. How did it go?

To all the list, I wish you a good summer. I hope that all fluids splashing onto the ground in the neighbourhood of any Vanagon is just rain or somebody "recycling" his or her beer!
