Hi folks, Please excuse my ignorance on an already over-discussed subject but I just don't get it Why are wasser boxer leaking ? Is it a bad design in the gasket or is it the heads ? When changing head gasket, is it acceptable to have present heads rebuilt instead of buying new ones ? If yes, can any specialist do it or are VW heads so different that the local guy would not do a proper job ?

If a leak is suspected, how can Barleak or other stuff help...for how long? any side effects on cooling system?

My van doesn't seem to have any leaks but I notice that my refill tank was at the minimum mark after having been filled up two weeks ago. It seem to have dropped in a matter of a couple of days after being stable for a couple odf week. Is it normal to add coolant here and there...or should the coolant always stay at the same level ?

Thanks Alain Thibault Westfalia 1991 166000 kms
